Not every student is ready for immediate entry into a Higher Certificate — and that’s okay.
What matters is how they are supported to get there.

The Creative Foundation programme has been carefully designed for students who do not yet meet the formal entry requirements for an Oakfields College Higher Certificate, but who have the potential to succeed with the right preparation and support.

This is a structured, 9-month programme delivered across four terms. It focuses on building the skills, confidence and maturity required for successful tertiary study.

The programme includes credit-bearing skills programmes and is assessed through continuous practical work rather than high-pressure exams. Students develop essential digital skills, problem-solving ability, workplace readiness and independent learning habits.

Just as importantly, they learn how tertiary education works — including time management, responsibility and professional communication.

At the end of the programme, each student is formally assessed and provided with a progression recommendation into an Oakfields College Higher Certificate. This ensures that students move forward only when they are ready to succeed.

The Creative Foundation programme ensures students do not lose out — instead, they build skills, confidence and readiness for success at tertiary level.
