This six month, twice weekly daytime course is for artists, creatives, designers, photographers and image makers who want to know about how to set up in business and learn more about the benefits of becoming self-employed. Studying business enhances your employability (especially as a creative), and develops core business skills that can be used. This course will give you a concise overview of where to find sources of support, how to write a business plan, promote and identify a market for your artworks, designs, and creative skills.
Other topics covered include raising awareness of legal issues, taxation, costing and pricing, what to charge and how to get paid.
You will learn to:
• Create a business plan that will help focus your efforts as a self-employed creative entrepreneur
• Know how to conduct market research relevant to your business ideas
• Be able to identify market opportunities and target demographics
• Communicate the story of your business to clients and funders
