Frequently Asked Questions

Parents – you have questions, we have answers

Upon becoming a parent, there are questions you ask of your children that you would never have even considered before.

Suddenly, questions such as, ‘Why is your underwear on your head?’ or ‘Did you just bite the dog?’ become quite normal in your life. As your children grow older the questions continue. And some of the most important questions you will ask as a parent will be centred around the tertiary education of your child.

Throughout school you’ve made the decisions and your child has largely gone along with them. But now, your child will have as much a say in his/her tertiary education decisions as you do.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be asking some very important questions of the tertiary institution where your child intends to embark on this next phase of his/her life.

At Oakfields College, we fully appreciate the responsibility of being entrusted with your child’s tertiary education. So we’re going to help answer a few of those questions you have.

Is the course and institution registered with the relevant accreditation authorities?

Oakfields College is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training until 31 December 2025 as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997. Registration certificateNo.2015/HE07/001.
Oakfields College, as an institution, is also registered with the MICT Seta (ACC/2012/07/598) and the CATHSSETA(MAPP7552/613/P/000213/2012). MICT Seta and CATHSSETA are the SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) registered ETQAs (Education and Training Quality Assuring Bodies) for the Arts & Culture sector.

Oakfields College offers skills-based qualifications that fall within the Occupational Qualification Framework (OQF).

What international associations do you have?

Oakfields College has strong ties with the international educational institution, Solent University in the UK. We have an articulation agreement with Solent University. This means that students who graduate from Oakfields College have the option to further their studies at Solent University.

What makes Oakfields College different from a university or other college?

We specialise in educating for a new world and that includes a world that has changed forever with the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve been doing this since 2006. We know exactly how to cater to a new generation looking for flexibility, small classes and online options. While many universities are now being forced to make quick and sometimes rash changes to accommodate the various issues society is now faced with, we have over a decade of experience in this area.

What additional academic support is there?

As a result of our smaller classes, our lecturers have enough time to spend focusing on individual student requests and needs. All of our lecturers are also active in their respective industries, making them perfectly placed to advise and guide their students in the most practical manner.

How will this qualification help my child find a job?

We don’t guarantee employment. But what we do guarantee is a qualification that is highly employable.

Our courses are designed with a highly practical focus so that our students can immediately enter the workplace and start earning from day one.
